One proud mom and some mild irritation

Jesse won! He had his second wrestling match in Beaver today and he won his second match (1 out of 3) which put him in 3rd place. You should have seen the priceless look on his face when he won. It was such a boost to him. As soon as I figure out how to edit the video I'll post it. The first half of it is Tyler's friend wrestling. We had so much fun today and when it was all over we got yummy ice cream and squeeky cheese from the dairy in Beaver...Mmmmm.

So on to my irritation. I have one problem with kids sports and it's one of the reasons I didn't really care to put my kids into anything for awhile. The only problem I have with kids sports is their parents. Seriously, these kids are in elementary school, the point is for them to have fun, learn good sportsmanship, get a little exercise and learn that it's ok to win sometimes and ok to lose sometimes. Parents are CRAZY. There are these poor kids (1st, 2nd graders even younger) out there wrestling and trying hard and their dad's are out on the mat screaming at them, making themselves look retarded and embarrassing their kids. Get a grip on life. I'm not kidding today Josh and I watched a dad push one of the ref's and no one did anything. The kid was in 2nd grade! And the poor ref, these guys are high schoolers who are volunteering their time to coach and ref these meets, they should be getting lots of respect and medals of their own. I've noticed it's like that with almost everything though. That's one reason we loved bmx because everyone was super helpful, excited you were there and no one was ever rude that I saw anyway. Anyway, I hope that my kids learn to have fun, work hard and that it's ok to win and lose and to be a good sport no matter what. I hope I NEVER embarrass them in that way....I'm sure I'll embarrass them other ways, they won't need anymore!
