Tracen spied his cat running off to the neighbors house today. He yelled out “My kitty cat! My dang gosh kitty cat!!!”

9 months
The journey from 8 to 9 months was a little rough for Lincoln and still is darn it.
First he got the flu…the for real, high temp, lethargic and sometimes puking flu. The poor little guy slept for like 3 days. He ate mostly tylenol and ibuprofen and drank diluted gatorade for a week. Anytime I tried giving him milk it made him mucousy and he’d just throw it up. I even thought about taking him to the ER one night but I knew what they’d do to him if I did. I just kept thinking….he’s drinking, he’s peeing and his temp comes down with meds. Everyone was sick that week and miserable….except me (sick, still miserable taking care of it all!)
Then a week or so went by and Jesse and Josh got strep. Link was pretty miserable himself. I didn’t know this but apparently babies don’t really get strep they don’t have receptors for it or something like that. But he did have a sinus infection and ear infection. So half the family was on antibiotics.
He’s been pretty happy until Sunday night when he started getting onery again. I thought he was just teething but then Monday night he got a fever. He’s still pretty miserable today as you can tell by his pictures!
Here’s some other highlights though:
He has now lost his army crawl. I’m actually sad about this, I love that little army crawl. He’s now a big boy.
He still loves pulling himself up to everything in sight but now he’ll walk around it while holding on.
He is a momma and daddy’s boy. If someone else is holding him and he can get one of us to instead he’s happy.
He jabbers quite a bit now. Still only saying daddy though.
He pinches hard. Not on purpose but it hurts!
He is keeping up with the boys. He’ll get down and wrestle with his brothers and dad. Sometimes he really goes after Tracen.
The other night he was so tired and he kept falling asleep in Josh’s lap while watching TV. He was totally doing the head bob thing. I’ll have to try to post the video.
OK now for some pictures. You can tell he doesn’t feel great and I love that his hair is sticking up all over. It’s because he’s sleeping or fussing and rubbing his head on you or snuggling. He’s still so dang cute though.

Pioneer Project
Jesse had to do a “pioneer project” for school. It was due today so of course, we started last night. Good thing we already knew what we were going to do….and good thing it worked out. He made cheese and butter. He made mozzarella. You start out with a big gallon of milk and you heat and stir and add stuff in. This part isn’t exactly fun for an 8 year old apparently.
Then you let it sit and it starts to curdle which he thinks is gross and cool all at the same time. Then you microwave and knead which he informs me that he doesn’t even know what that means. Then you microwave, knead and salt….then you finally get to the fun part….The stretching!
There’s a smile finally. He loved the stretching part. He could have done that all day long. I told him it was a good thing that we didn’t do a cheese that had to age a while.
This is the little portion we sent to school. But really a gallon of milk doesn’t make much cheese. It’s amazing. The extra was only the size of that little blue bowl full.
Then he made butter, which we didn’t get any pictures of. So for his project…homemade cheese and butter.

One of these is not like the other…
Here’s a little story to start this out….My kids have the terrible three’s, not the terrible two’s. Tracen will be three in three months….he’s gearing up already. Tracen has recently decided that he is spiderman. He wants to wear this spiderman costume everywhere! This morning he woke up and immediately made me put on his costume. He did not want to change out of it to go to walmart and then to Grandmas. So I did what every good mom does when trying to avoid a huge fight when I haven’t even fully woke up yet. I let him go in his costume. Josh was mortified. I did however, make him wear some pants and a jacket over the top (because it’s cold you know) So technically you couldn’t see the costume….except maybe the little part hanging out the bottom of his pants. Fast forward to grandmas house and remember we’re potty training. To go potty while wearing a spiderman costume you have to pull down the pants, nearly completely remove the costume and then the usual after that. That was fun. Hopefully he doesn’t insist on wearing this everyday.

Poison
Tracen just took a big drink of milk and came out of it out of breath. Then he said “Oh good it’s not poison”
Just to clarify I say “what’s not poison?”
He says “my milk” then he wiped his hands off on my pants like that's what you're supposed to do and walked off.
alrighty then.
Tracen's also started calling Tyler and Jesse "my kids" or "my boys" It's pretty funny. We dropped them off at karate and Tracen says "Where's mys kids going?" A lot of times when he wakes up from his nap he'll as "where's mys boys?"

boys=noise
I'm attempting....attempting being the important word there....to read the scriptures with the fam each night. I tell ya, it's a lot easier to just find somewhere to hide and read them myself. Tonight we were reading the last chapter in Jacob and I think I stopped four times and told them I knew there was no way they were listening.....ok 2 of those times I'm pretty sure I yelled. They are so dang noisy! After that Jesse decided we should sing a song....Jesse and I sang a song.
Then Tracen decided that I should continue to sing from the childrens songbook while he danced. He picked out the songs and then danced along. I don't know what he was hearing in his head but if for sure was not the same song I was singing. That song would not be reverent enough for the childrens songbook....even if it were in the popcorn popping, or head shoulders knees and toes section. Then in the middle of dancing and singing Tracen had me singing "It's not very hard to sit very still, and think about Jesus...." to which Ty pipes up (didn't know he was even paying attention) "It is if you're ADHD!" The whole time this is going on Josh has resumed his video game.
This is not an abnormal night of scripture reading for us. Someone please remind me that it's ok, they're learning to have scripture study, even if they aren't paying attention to a word I say. I love them all, but some days I just want to go find myself a quiet corner for a minute!!

Breast Cancer Awareness
SUU is promoting breast cancer awareness at their next several athletic events. They asked Ann to come to a game and be recognized for it. They also have all sorts of drawings and t-shirts to buy etc that goes toward research. So last night we went to the SUU women’s basketball game with her. At half time they had her come out to be recognized. She had Vaughn and most of the grandkids went out there with her. They gave her a basketball signed by the team. She said it was her first basketball ever :) We are so proud of grandma and the hard battle she’s fought. We could tell that chemo and radiation weren’t easy, but I’m sure we have no idea how hard they really were. We’re so glad that all the treatments are finally over and that she can move on. And her short hair looks really cute growing back in too :)
Getting ready to walk out of the tunnel
Grandma, Grandpa and all the grandkids. We got popcorn during the game. Tracen thinks all popcorn belongs in his possession. Here’s he’s bargaining with Kurt for some sour patch candy

Haircuts
Lincoln got his first haircut the other day. He did awesome! He didn’t scream like his brothers during their first haircuts, nor did he move around excessively, so the results are a lot more pleasing to look at :) I think it turned out so cute and he looks so dang cute with a little faux hawk…which of course, I don’t have a picture of.
Ty also got his hairs cut and I thought he looked very nice with his glasses and his hair cut. He didn’t appreciate my taking his picture. I told him it was so we would be able to repeat the do at home. He probably won’t be so happy to find that picture here :)

Quote of the Day
Here are some of the funny things that this crazy kid has said today…
“Mom, figure out what side you’re on!” (while watching how to train your dragon)
While entering the grocery store in a loud voice “I not pee in my pants ok mom?”
“Mom can I have more ha cream (ice cream) pwease?”
All while driving at a normal, non-crazy speed….
“Mom you driving me crazy!” (which actually sounds a lot like quesy)
“Mom you making my underwear fall off!”
“Mom, yats (thats) too fasss”
“Mom, go fasser again!”
