My little Lincoln man

I can’t believe my baby is 2 years old!  Where did that time go?  I’m a little late posting this but I still wanted to do it.  Lincoln is so fun and happy most of the time.  He talks so much and copies everything his brothers do.  It’s so funny, you can tell he has older brothers who teach him to say things like “oh freak” and “poopy” (that one’s maybe not so funny) but he says tons of stuff that he would only get from his brothers.  He always wants to follow them around and do whatever it is that they’re doing too.

Lincoln has a little bit of the terrible two’s going on too.  He can scream with the best of them, throw a pretty impressive temper tantrum and has the word “no” down pat.  We are no where near ready to potty train…me or him.  We rarely make it through sacrament meeting because he’s too busy making noise or throwing one of his tantrums when everyone else is being quiet.  Although last Sunday when it was just Josh, me and him he made it through.  Maybe the boys antagonize him a little….that would be shocking. lol.

He’s also become quite the momma’s boy, which makes me feel awesome and is somewhat irritating all at the same time!  He cries anytime I leave him, even if it’s with the boys, Josh, Grandma, to take the garbage out or feed the animals.  He wants to go with me no matter what.  He won’t go to nursery either.  he thinks it’s a great idea as long as I stay too!  But I know this won’t last forever so I’m enjoying him being my best little buddy.

A few funny recent stories…

The other Sunday Megan tried to get him to go with her and she was going to take him to nursery.  He would not go.  But as soon as she left he kept saying “Ina pay wif Megan!” all through Sr Primary.  He has decided Megan is ok (and Addi!) most of the time now.

We have tons of grasshoppers outside right now.  Last week Tracen caught a grasshopper and named her Lisa.  Today Lincoln was outside while I was grilling some chicken and he kept trying to catch a “babee eeesa” (baby lisa)  Then he drug Josh outside to have him help catch a few Lisa’s  It was so funny to hear him squeal every time Josh caught him a Lisa.

We took our boat to Minersville reservoir last weekend to see if it would run (that’s another story).  Lincoln absolutely loved being in the boat.  After we were done with our boat we swam in the reservoir a bit and caught crawdads.  Lincoln wore his pirate life jacket the whole time and loved it.  He wanted to poke the “crab” with a stick and he played on the knee board and had so much fun.  Both he and Tracen cried when we left.  Now everytime we go outside he wants to go in the boat and he makes us take off his clothes in the house and he puts on his life jacket and will wear it for hours and talk about the boat.  He’s going to love the lake!….that is if our boat ever works good enough to enjoy it!

Lincoln I love you so much!  You are so much fun and I’m so grateful Heavenly Father sent you to our family.  It would not be the same without you!

And now for a whole bunch of pictures of our little buddy!

Today we went to the pool just me and him.  He took awhile to warm up to being in the water but then he started having fun.

Enjoying a popsicle.  Lincoln spends a good portion of the time in his skivvy’s…he prefers it that way.

I just really love this picture….he got these boots for his birthday.  And like I said, clothes are completely optional in his life.

And I love this one….this is a temper tantrum.  He wanted to go play with either Megan or Addi…I can’t remember.

He got these cheetos for his birthday.  He loves cheetos.  He was very nice to share, but he had to be holding the bag!

This picture is not about the big cup as you might be thinking.  It’s about the pair of Thomas underwear he pulled up on top of his diaper….sort of.

The Accident

2012-05-04_14-24-24_204

One day Tracen and Addi were painting and doing other art projects at the kitchen table.  Tracen came in and said to me “mom I’m sorry I accidently painted on the light.”

I didn’t get mad but I do have one question….how is painting on the light considered an accident?

Tracen turns 4?

Really?  When did that happen?  He’s growing up so fast!

Tracen is a big boy still.  He is wearing size 5 and 6 clothes.  Most of his clothes are hand me downs from when Jesse was in Kindergarten and first grade.  Tracen doesn’t start kindergarten for one more year!

He thinks he’s older than he is I’m sure.  He thinks he’s old enough to go do all sorts of things on his own and to hang out with the big boys.  He’s a cowboy for sure and loves his wranglers, cowboy hat, gun, boots and cowboy shirts.  He loves to help me cook, especially breakfast. He can ride a bike all by himself!

He runs away to Addi’s house all the time.  If he doesn’t play with Addi at least several hours a day, it’s a bad day.  Addi is his best friend whether she likes it or not! lol.  He sneaks over there all the time, if I’ve told him no, if I tell him she’s not there, if he forgets to ask…you know when I find him missing I just text Megan and make sure he made it safe.  I’m sure they wish he’d quit invading them!  They run around both yards and houses and they get so dirty.  It’s pretty funny.  I’m glad they get along and entertain each other so well!

Tracen is a mischievous kid who likes to play jokes just like his daddy.  He’ll tease you, make fun of you, play jokes on you.  One day he asked if he could go scare Dan next door so I said sure….lol…he just forgot to ever come home.  I guess he snuck up behind him and roared as loud as he could.

Tracen is a sunbeam in church and will go to class willingly as long as his teacher is there.  When there’s a substitute he’s not as sure.  He sits in singing and sharing time straight faced and never says a word, but apparently as soon as he gets to class he talks away.

He just passed level one in swimming.  At first he would cry or ignore the instructor.  He’s really good at ignoring people.  She looked at me and asked if he was afraid of the water.  I just laughed and told her no, he’s just shy and ignoring you just pick him up and go.  I was afraid he wouldn’t warm up and ever move on past tadpoles, but dad must be a little more motivating because he quit crying the days that he went with him.

I’m amazed every day at the things he knows and does.  He’s a  super smart kid and really funny.  He likes to help me most of the time unless it involves cleaning up his toys.  He’s so much fun to have around and his smile always brings a smile to my face.  I’m so lucky to have him!  I especially love his hugs, kisses and snuggles.

A good friend/date

Last month I received the Nurse Excellence award for the ER.  It came with (insert sarcastic voice here) like going and getting my picture taken and having it hang on the wall by the ER entrance for an entire year.  I tried to get Chris (my manager) to hang it in a closet but it’s still there.  It also came with a nice lunch (really it was nice, no sarcasm) with all the other departments awardees (is that a word?)  This lunch was a +1 type of a deal so I invited my dear husband who quickly let me know that he would be in training in St. George, and no he couldn’t get out of it.  So I asked my friend Heidi on a date.  She was so nice and said yes.  Don’t worry there was one other non-significant other duo there, someone brought their daughter lol.  We tried to behave ourselves and did fairly well until right at the end when Heidi licked her fingers and fixed my hair for the group photo lol!  As part of my thing I got this embroidered jacket, which is really nice, and Heidi has claimed partial time with.  So here she is wearing my jacket a week or two later.  We added “Date” on a piece of tape to properly label her.  I love my friends at work!  They make working worth it and bearable and fun!2012-05-12_19-24-12_135

Summer Games opening ceremonies

We’ve gone down to the opening ceremonies for the last 5 or so years.  We used to just walk down to the end of the street and watch the fireworks and listen to the music when we lived in Cedar.  But since Josh is over security for the events at SUU we’ve started hanging out inside the gates.  It was way fun this year.  Ty was at Crystal’s house but David was playing soccer in the games so we had Jake with us too.  They had the Nitro circus there with lots of crazy stunts done by crazy young people who don’t care if they get hurt or not.  It makes for a good show!  All the boys loved the motorcycles and trucks.  They also had the big draft horses pulling a wagon and then the usual fireworks and music.  It was lots of fun because both Tracen and Lincoln loved the whole thing so it was fun to go.  Josh is busy the whole time so I usually get to do most of this by myself but the older boys are helpful and we hang out pretty close to the incident command trailer, so we get to see him a little bit and have lots of cops hanging around and Pat.  We love Pat, she is always fun.2012-06-14_19-35-14_350 2012-06-14_19-36-33_108 2012-06-14_19-36-46_378 2012-06-14_22-28-09_292 2012-06-14_22-35-37_76

Hiking in Zion

Crystal wanted to go hiking in Zion for her birthday so that’s what we did.  We rode the bus in and hiked the River walk.  It was pretty warm but it was lots of fun.  Link rode on my back most of the time.  He kept thinking he wanted to get out but we told him that this was the way to go.  He did a little hiking at the end though.  Then afterward we got ice cream and ate at the pizza and noodle company.  It was lots of fun.

Getting ready to head out.  Link has to be just like his brothers :)

And so was Lincoln

2012-06-07_14-20-14_868

We went and got ice cream while waiting for the restaurant to open.  Lincoln loved his.  He was a little messy!  This guy sat opposite him on the bench outside and Link held out his ice cream and told the man “Ice Cream!” which was pretty amazing since he has gotten pretty shy.  The man looked and him and told him “You sure are a mess aren’t you” and then got up and walked away.  Good thing because I might have told him off!  He’s 2 and enjoying an ice cream cone for heaven’s sake!2012-06-07_15-49-59_41

After dinner we headed home because I had to go to work.  I was hoping to get a little better nap in but 30 minutes from Virgin to Black Ridge was about it.  Thanks for inviting us to your birthday outing Crystal!
