Glasses

A few months ago Tyler started telling me he couldn’t see the board at school.  Being the awesome forgetful person that I am I kept forgetting to make him an eye appointment during business hours.  They don’t let you make appointments at say midnight when these things cross your mind.  Finally, last week I made him an appointment and sure enough he needed glasses.  We picked him out a pair and they came in today.  He’s still getting used to them but it was really funny after we left the dr’s office and he kept saying things like “wow, I can see that sign!”  I remember having the same problem.  He’s pretty worried he’s going to get teased tomorrow at school but I think he looks pretty darn….uh… good looking (I’m not allowed to say he’s cute).  Tomorrow he’s getting a hair cut too.
DSC_0048 copy He wasn’t so excited about me taking his picture though…DSC_0046 I also told him if he breaks or loses them, he gets to come up with the next $220!

8 month pictures

I took a few pictures of Lincoln today with his giraffe.  It was really hard because a) He is really on the move!  I can’t get him to hold still to change his diaper let alone take a few photos.  and b) someone (no one is admitting to anything) dropped my camera the other day and thankfully did not break the camera, but did break my normal lens so all I have is the zoom lens.  Which means that I have to get really far away to take a picture.  So by the time I get far enough away to take a picture he’s already moved.  He’s pretty darn cute though!

Lincoln 8 months

Lincoln turned 8 months old this past weekend.  I haven’t gotten any cute pictures of him yet with his giraffe because we’ve had the flu going around our house and then I think the boys may have broke my $500 camera.  Not good.  BUT, Lincoln is so fun to have around and had learned so much new stuff lately!

He can now pull himself to standing and loves to be standing up all the time.  He also can get himself into a sit from the floor

DSC_0004

He still does an army crawl on his elbows, but he is FAST.  He can get anywhere way too fast.

He loves food and loves to be fed.  Tracen loves to feed him.  He loves oranges too, we just have to be careful that we don’t let him chokeDSC_0007 DSC_0016

He says Dadadada a lot.  I’ve only heard momma once.

He grins and smiles and giggles a lot.

He got his first case of the flu this weekend.  He looked as miserable as Josh said he felt.  Droopy eyed, sleeping all day, crying while he was awake, fevers the whole works.  Not fun at all.

He still has a really hard time sleeping anywhere but his bed.  About the only other option is his car seat. Asleep on our little family outing….love the shoe.DSC_0090

He’s a fun little boy, and today he’s finally starting to act like himself again.  Hopefully we’ll be able to get some cute pictures of him with his giraffe soon.

chicken poo

When you're the mother of 4 boys and you have a husband, you're slightly outnumbered to say the least.  And when there are that many boys around the conversations can quickly circle the drain.  It is not uncommon to hear talk around our house that involves some kind of bodily function...especially now that we're trying to convince Tracen that potty training is a good idea.  Then you have to combine that with the fact that I work at night and sleep during the day 2 days a week and that Josh is in charge of the guidance of the children during those hours with no one to reign them in.  It can get bad.

I worked on Wednesday night, and just for the record I was so excited because I think I slept the best I've slept during the day since we moved to this house on Thursday.  So I get up and pretty soon I hear Tracen talking to dad about "chicken poo."  Josh is now trying to get Tracen to show me chicken poo.  This is getting worse....Anyway when it all comes out Josh and Tracen have developed a new treat while I was sleeping.  You had no idea Josh was a chef and could create new recipes did you?  This recipe is called "chicken poo"--I know, only men/boys would ever create a new recipe and name it chicken poo.  Would you like the recipe, it's no bake?  Well you're in luck it's not a family secret recipe....got a paper and pen ready?

Chicken Poo
Ingredients:
1 spoon
Peanut butter
shredded coconut
chocolate chips
use the spoon to scoop up some PB, sprinkle with coconut and top that with chocolate chips. Repeat.
Apparently this most closely resembles chicken poo and the name adds extra giggles while eating as well as other entertainment.
They were scraping the bottom of the PB bottle but if you're going to double dip I recommend not serving that same PB later on to friends and neighbors.

Do you see the resemblance?  Someone please help me, I'm surrounded by boys.

Red Cliffs

For Martin Luther King holiday we decide we needed a little sunshine and warm weather.  So we headed south to Red Cliffs.  Josh's family came too.  It was so much fun and so great to just be outside and not freezing our rear-ends off.  We took a little walk around the campground and then settled in at a picnic table next to the stream.  We had a little picnic, the kids built little stick boats and raced them over and over.  The little kids threw rocks in the stream and played in the dirt.
Later almost everyone went on quite the lengthy hike.  I'm not sure where they went or where they ended up but they were gone quite awhile.  Lincoln had finally fell asleep so even though I had his carrier we stayed at the picnic table with Kaylynn, Kallie and Jerry.  It was such a nice day and we had a great time!!  Come on Spring we're ready already!!

Kallie and Lincoln breaking in Kaylynns Christmas present.
Happy to be outside!
A perfect little bench to sit on
Throwing rocks and racing stick boats
Grandpa threw Grandma in the stream after she teased him...He's kinda naughty!
Josh being....well, being himself I guess.  I told him this was going on the blog.  He told me it better not.  I'm not afraid...
Jerry packed Link around quite a bit and shared his hat
Josh invading Crystals personal space and exceeding the weight limits of her chair I'm sure.

Tackled

The other night Tracen would NOT let me brush his teeth.  I was really wanting him to go to bed and was not being overly patient.  So finally I laid him down on the ground, pinned his arms by his side, sat on him and brushed his teeth.  He was so mad.  So while I was putting his toothbrush away he went and told on me…"Dad, mom hode me down!”  Josh totally took his side! :)  He kept saying thinks like “mom held you down? I can’t believe that!”  “Should we get her?” Of course he said yes.  So he tackled me and let Tracen tickle me.  I was laughing so hard.  He kept yelling “mom hode me down!”  Then he climbed on and held me down.  It was so funny.  He kept gritting his teeth and growling at me.  By the way I look really bad in these pictures.  If it weren’t for me wanting this little story in our family journal…they wouldn’t be here :)

Quote of the day

Tyler was calling Tracen insane tonight....
Jesse says to Tyler "what is insane?"
Tyler: "doing the same thing over and over and over again"
Jesse:  "hmm....that was insane"

Ha ha.

New Years Eve

Originally my plans for New Years Eve included going with Josh to the SUU basketball game and then going to sleep.  But Ty had other plans.  He wanted to have a party.  We ended up telling him that if he got the house cleaned up we could invite some people over.  Now clean to me and clean to a 10 year old boy are not the same thing, but since he tried so hard how could I say no?  So we started the night out with the Guymon’s, they came over and we ate and played games.  Tracen was not into sharing with Addi at all!  But the boys had fun playing Rock Band.

Crystal and Kurt decided to come over as well a little later.  We played Apples to Apples and Smooth Moves on the Wii and ate a lot more food.  We stayed up way late.  I couldn’t believe it but Tracen made it until midnight.  See there he is…

Josh was blowing an air horn.  I think he confiscated it at the game :)  I think there were a few fireworks going off they were all looking at.

Shortly after midnight Tracen had a “I'm up too late” meltdown and him and I retired to his room.  But it was a fun night!

My mom and dad came by on their way home New Years Day.  Ty taught them how to play rock band too.  It was kinda funny.
