Pregnancy FAQ

I thought that I'd post some of the questions I get asked all the time about being pregnant. Some are reasonable, some are funny and some....well you'll see. By the way, most of these comments come from work. There is something about being in the ER that makes people lose all tact. It doesn't hurt my feelings, I just think that people are dumb sometimes! (Not all these comments are dumb by the way) And don't worry if your question shows up here, you're probably not the only one to ask it and I probably still love you :) And I totally intend on blogging more interesting comments as they come available. Someday when I'm skinny again, I will laugh about it :)

Are you pregnant?
Um no, just fat, that diet didn't quite work out for me. Yes, I'm pregnant.

Oh, you happen to know all my in-laws really well huh, guess I can't keep this pregnancy a secret anymore!

When are you due?
June 5th

Do you know what you're having?
A boy

Is this your first baby?
no I have three boys
What you're just a baby yourself!
No, I'm 29

Are you going to try to have a girl?
No we don't seem to make those around here I think I"ll stick with boys. And no, we're done, so no girls are to be had.
Don't you feel bad that your never going to have a girl?
In some ways, but mostly no. I barely have time to do my own hair, now I won't have to learn how to do someone elses as well.
Well you have to try to have a girl!
Um, no I don't. I know lots of people who had 5+ boys/girls trying to get the opposite, I'm not going there.

This is my favorite comment, really I love this person...I work with her....
Well I knew you had to be pregnant because people as skinny as you just don't get fat like that.
Really I love you, that's the nicest thing anyone's ever said to me!

Blaz-Hey if you don't pop a baby out in about 8 months we're going to know you're just eating too many twinkies.
Me-Blaz if I don't pop out a baby in about 4.5 months we're going to have a problem!

These next comments are comments from being pregnant with Tracen. I fully expect them to happen again. By the way, I'm not a cute petite pregnant person I get freaking ginormous. Unless otherwise noted these ALL come from patients....loss of tact....

Me-Hi I'm SheriDawn, how are you doing today?
Patient-Ohhhh, how are you doing?
Me-I'm fine
Patient-Ohhhh, how much longer do you have left?
Me-Like 6 weeks, what are we seeing YOU for today?

Pt-When are you due?
Me-in ___ weeks.
Pt-are you having twins?
Me-nope.

Do you know what you're having?
Yep I HAD a boy..... 8 months ago.

Wow there must be something in the water around here because both of you are pregnant...
Actually, she is, I'm not anymore.

When are you due?
I'm not. I was, but I'm not.

In fact, one day I wrote NO in tape on my shirt for a minute at the nurses station. I'd only been asked like 3 times that day.

Josh-Wow you're getting big.
Me-Thanks, bye
Josh-no like, you're bigger than Kaylynn and she's about to have her baby.
Me-Yes, thanks I know that, you can go now.

Blaz-Did you know we had to widen the door jambs around here for her?

I was drinking my glucose tolerance test at work one day. It looks alot like Mag citrate, which is a laxative we give out...
Blaz-(he thinks he's funny) You mean your not really pregnant, you just need to..........(I'll leave the rest up to your imagination)

Yep, I HAD a boy.

So I'm totally guilty of open mouth insert foot from time to time, so I get over these easily, but I just want to remember them for my future enjoyment. Hope you enjoyed them too....
