We’ve been up to a little this summer. Nothing too exciting or new but we sure haven’t been bored either!
This summer we have done a LOT of swimming. Tracen participated in and passed two sessions of swimming. Tyler and Jesse have also been participating in swim team. Jesse has even competed in one swim competition. We were very proud of him! We’ve also spent several afternoons at the Parowan pool pretending to be little fishes.
Both David and Ja cob spent some time at our house. We were supposed to take David to the family reunion with us but then we ended up not going. David got to hang out with us for a couple of days until we finally surrendered and took him back to his mother. We really enjoyed having him stay with us and told him he could move in any time he wanted. Tyler, Jesse and I drove him back up to Ephraim and then stopped at the Manti pageant on the way home. The boys made up several (4 I think) new verses to the main theme song to shrek on the way to Ephraim. There is never a dull moment with these boys around!
It was a little noisy! When we got to Manti we had a little time to kill. We walked around the craft fair and ran into one of my friends from high school and chatted awhile. Then we got some food. We decided to actually watch the pageant outside the gates on the lawn. So we ate and played games and waited for it to start. Jesse fell asleep at the end and waking him up to walk to the car was a comedy all in it’s own. He was saying crazy stuff and I had to have Ty help me keep him on the straight and narrow to the car so we didn’t lose him!
4th of July
The fourth was a little less than exciting this year. We went to the parade in Parowan where we got a good haul of candy. Usually we go up to Brian Head because they have the coolest fireworks and the craziest people, but since Utah was burning down during the fourth this year Brian Head decided they’d better cancel their fireworks. So we called up Grandma Neilson the day of and invited ourselves over to her house. We barbeque’d hamburgers and ate and hung out and then watched some fireworks. Josh had to work too so he kind of came and went with the wind. He ended up pretty busy helping the city out with a lot of there stuff so we didn’t see him much past dinner.

Our friends finally came to town after many many months and we were so excited to see them! Bryce and Alisha and their girls were visiting from Japan and we were able to meet up with them at the park one night. I do have to admit that my boys were slightly less than excited to spend the evening with 4 girls they couldn’t remember but the fact that I’d bought doughnuts did help a little. They had so much fun! They went from being somewhat skeptical to having a great time! They were bummed when it was over and excited that they were able to get together the next night at Grandma Neilsons

Jase and his kids have been staying with Grandma Neilson for a few weeks too. The kids have had a lot of fun playing with them too. My kids, Jase’s kids and the Barton girls played “night games” while still light and then after dark too :)
Work
That’s definitely something we’ve done a lot of lately. And when that rare night happens that there’s not a lot going on….if you combine that with two really tired and sometimes crazy nurses…we get a little out of hand. This night while trying to stay awake we tested the ability of the bp cuffs to register a bp while sitting/laying on it, bladder scanned ourselves and then tested the accuracy of the bladder scanner by measuring it in a hat, we ran races (on foot and in wheelchair) around the ER ( I lost) and tried on a gown or two. We have to stay sane somehow!
24th of July
For the 24th we went up to the cabin at Panguitch with the Guymons and played and barbequed. Jesse and Ethan spent most of the time fishing and they caught a really big fish for that little stream! They caught lots of little ones too that they threw back. Josh helped Ethan gut the fish so that he could pass that part off for his scouting merit badge. Tracen and Addi and Lincoln played and swung on the porch swing. It was a lot of fun…including that moment that I almost burned all the hair off my arms and head.

And last week I went with my friends Heidi and Jodie to Salt Lake and we went and saw the Sound of Music. It was Awesome!!! and we had so much fun. The only picture I have is of my Ahi Tuna at PF Changs
Ward Campout
We went on the ward campout. Josh and the other counselor in the Young Men had to cook dinner for everyone. I don’t know who’s idea it was to put two guys in charge of the food but it was pretty hilarious (Josh was stressed out!) and they had wayyyy to much food. But it was fun. We just slept in our truck. I left Josh in the back seat with the little boys and I slept out by myself in the back of the truck under the stars. It was beautiful. Here are my dirty boys on the way home.

We’ve been drinking green smoothies most mornings. Lincoln loves them and calls them “green poopies”
Josh was trying to get out of weeding the garden I think so he was playing with the boys on the swing set. He taught Lincoln and Tracen to do “toes to bar” It’s pretty stinking cute to see them do it…especially Link.
And thats pretty much it for the summer so far….There’s not a lot left to the summer but I’ll try to keep up next time!
