I’m afraid I failed in the cool mom category this Halloween. I was so excited when I looked at the schedule and I didn’t work this Halloween, but guess what, I worked Friday and Saturday nights. So I basically slept through the whole thing. Tyler and Jesse wanted to be characters from the Percy Jackson books. Easy enough. We had to find them swords and make T-shirts that said “Camp half blood” on them so it wouldn’t look like they were just dressed up as themselves! Tracen was a well-loved Buzz Lightyear. He had fun shooting everyone with his laser. Jesse wore this costume nearly every day for at least a year when he was Tracen’s age. And Lincoln was a skeleton with some cute new baby legs to cover up those bare leggy’s. on a side note, I’ve always thought baby legs probably looked silly on boys, but I was wrong, he looked pretty cute in them!
The older boys had a karate party early in the day. Then while I slept the day away they painted pumpkins. I guess Josh wasn’t into carving them! But they had fun and painted away. My friend Pam at work was super super nice and offered to come in for me for a few hours so that I could go play Halloween with the kiddos. We were supposed to go to the Trunk or Treat at the church but it got really cold. Lincoln’s had a stuffy/runny nose and I didn’t want to encourage that at all so we went to Cedar instead and the boys and I trick or treated our old street while Josh stayed with Link in the car. Then we went and visited Grandma Bev, Crystal and Kurt, some cousins and Grandpa and Grandma Neilson. Then Josh dropped me off at work, which wasn’t too bad. Far fewer police-escorted intoxicated persons than last year! So even though I wasn’t so into Halloween this year as I would have liked to have been, it still turned out pretty good!
And for your view pleasure, more pictures of Tyler being a dork: :)
Hope you had a great Halloween!
